Nokia E55 Review

March 27th, 2009

I just saw the Nokia E55
online and it looks like a really good option for people who spend a lot of time messaging or emailing from their phones. The E55 supports EGPRS, WCDMA, HSDPA/HSUPA (3.5G) and WLAN impressive connectivity for a phone so small. It is a mere 116.5 x 49 x 9.9 mm, pretty sleek looking in its steel grey color.

The Nokia E55 has a compact QWERTY keyboard that makes it easier to type out long messages and emails. It also has a predictive engine that completes words for you, and that automatically includes new words. The screen can also be switched to landscape mode to make emailing easier.

The official product page is fully compatible with Ovi services, which means that as a user you can access Ovi Maps and GPS services. The phone also has N-Gage installed, for a little bit of extra fun! The phone supports a wide range of document formats – Excel, PDF, Powerpoint, Word, so you can use the attachment function for emails and also view and change documents right on your phone.

If you prefer to just make a phone call rather than use the messaging convenience, then you won’t be disappointed with the pay as you go
phone. I features a new noise cancellation technology that cuts out ambient sounds to make your conversation clearer and sharper. A great feature for cellphones, especially if you’re already pushing the limits of your network area.

The 2048 x 1536 camera has a 4 times digital zoom, auto exposure, extended depth of field, fullscreen viewfinder, red-eye reduction, self timer, and sequence mode. Quite a package for a phone that is primarily being marketed as a messaging phone. The Nokia E55 can also play over 10 audio formats, including WAV and M4A formats. It has dedicated camera keys and dedicated volume keys as well.

I would recommend the phone simply because it is made my Nokia, and they make the best phones in the industry. Take a look at the features for yourself, and if you can find a more capable phone, that looks as great and is so simple to navigate, then let me know.

Nokia N86: A Special Nokia Phone

March 26th, 2009

Nokia N86 8MPOnly last month did I hear about the Nokia N86 8MP and I must admit I was very surprised. And you would be too; if you had attended the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, Spain last year and not even heard a mention of this phone from its makers. While other Nokia models were prominently displayed, no one even whispered the name of Nokia N86 8MP.

But, now the mystery seems to have cleared up. Word is that this mobile phone is considered so special by Nokia that it decided to have a special announcement for its release as opposed to clubbing it other models. And now that some of the details of the features of the phone are out, I can completely get what is so special about Nokia N86 8MP.

nokia-n86The See the official site, which is slated for release in the second quarter of 2009 was finally unveiled at GSMA 2009 amidst much fanfare. The most talked about feature of this model was undoubtedly its 8-megapixel camera. While Nokia has come up with 5 megapixel camera in some of its other models, this is the first Nokia mobile phone to have incorporated an 8 megapixel camera.

To enhance picture viewing quality, the Nokia is equipped with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, which is absolutely top of the line. It is also equipped with a variable aperture to help you get sharper and clearer pictures, whether you are shooting in super-bright or low-light environments. The phone is also equipped with a dual-LED flash to enhance picture quality in low light environments as well as a fast mechanical shutter that should reduce motion blur.

So, if you want to combine the functions of a phone with a great camera, you know which new model to look out for in the near future!

Nokia 8208 review

March 26th, 2009

The Nokia 8208 should be released sometime soon and I can hardly wait to lay my hands on it. From everything that I have heard about this phone, it sounds like the phone that I have been waiting for a very long time. I have envisaged a phone with features that suit me the most and it seems like the Nokia 8208 is made from the specifications in my head.
What I wanted was a phone that could play music for many, many hours. Most phones give you good playback time, but none of them can be used for the better part of a day at a time. I tend to travel a lot and am away from my hotel room or camp for most day when I am exploring surrounding areas. But, none of the phones I have come across so far could play music the whole time I was out exploring. Its juices would run out within a few hours and I was left with no music at all.
The 8208 promises over 20 hours of music playback time! This means that whenever I go out travelling, I can be assured of music every waking hour! And, what makes it better is that along with the 150 MB internal memory, the back up memory of Press images can be expanded up to 8 GB. This means that I can carry a large collection of my music along with me and will never run out of fresh tunes to listen to.
Additionally, the Nokia mobiles also has a high standby time- 11 days! This too is a feature perfect for travelers like me, who do not expect too many calls during their travels, but like to use some of the other features that the phone has to offer while travelling.
You can find what customers have to say about the 8208 at the Best Mobile Contracts Nokia 8208 review page.
We couldn’t find any video’s of the Nokia 8208 at the time of writing, but as soon as we do, we will post them here.

Nokia 6720 Classic Review

March 25th, 2009

Nokia recently announced the 6720 Classic and it looks like it must be worth the hype. It has been designed for clarity in camera, screen, and voice functions. The phone is curved to fit perfectly to your face and is equipped with active noise cancellation. A feature that appears for the first time.

The Nokia mobiles has a great battery life of up to 20 days stand by time, during which you can access high speed internet, and the phone’s TV-out connection, enabling you to share photos and video.

A sleek grey/black, the Nokia 6720 Classic looks as great as it feels, and functions even better. It is a traditional candybar phone that fits perfectly into your hand – a refreshing change from the new slider, and flip phones that are flooding the market these days. The keys are in classic Nokia layout, making navigation, as always, familiar and convenient.

The Nokia 6720 Classic has recently integrated Maps and Ovi which enable you to plan trips at home on your personal computer and then load the directions on to the phone for use while driving. The Maps software has been updated to include high-resolution aerial images and 3D landmarks for cities all over the world. The navigation system has been tweaked for ease of use for pedestrians, a quick tip of the hat to Nokia for recognizing the widest used mode of transport – the feet. The Maps software also has a range of other new features, like traffic and safety warnings. travel content, and a weather service.

The Find out more here also has dedicated camera keys that make it easy to capture and share photographs and video with friends and family. Looks like a great phone, hopefully it will be priced affordably so that as many people as possible can enjoy it.

Nokia 6710 Navigator. Never Get Lost Again

March 24th, 2009

The new 6710 Navigator has all the capabilities of a dedicated GPS handset, with the convergence of mobile technology. With a state of the art 5.0 Mega pixel camera, streamlined design, specially tailored accessories, and dependable battery, the phone is a must-have for those who like to know exactly where they stand. Or drive, for that matter.

Most important to this review is the navigation system that gives the 6710 Navigator its name. Nokia has gone all out to improve their maps software, giving it great graphics, clarity and usability. They have special drive and walk navigation options, a compass and geo-tagging options. Below the display there is a dedicated zoom bar for easy map viewing, and the display adjusts to outdoor conditions as most navigation is done on the go.

The Nokia 6710 Navigator allows for a synchronization between maps and Ovi, which allows the use to pre plan trips at home on the computer and then transfer details and directions onto the phone. Great option for global travellers and backyard explorers alike. The Maps software has been updated to show you high resolution aerial images, and has other similar options to make navigation complete. To make life even simpler, the box comes with a special car holder for the phone so that you can prop the phone up on the dashboard for directions while driving. Speaking of dashboards, the interface has a great widget-like interface for easy access to applications.

The Nokia’s official page has a state of the art camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. The geo-tagging feature enables you to take a picture and then mark the exact co-ordinates of the location. So if you sometimes forget where you’ve been, the phone definitely wont. The Nokia is great for creating your own maps and memories.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic – no more MP3 Players for me

March 23rd, 2009

16 gigs of music. What more can I say? The 5630 XpressMusic has made my mp3 player useless. I can store unlimited music on my phone’s SD card. With the 3.5 mm stereo headphone plug, I can listen to the music with my hi fi headphones. This is important because even if the phone has great sound, if your head phones are no good, the experience is just disappointing. The inbuilt speakers on the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic too are way better than I’ve seen on any phone.

The ’say and play’ option is really cool too. A voice activated music player – no mp3 player can match that. I also really like that the phone has dedicated music keys. I really don’t like having to go through countless menus to find my music and then adjust the volume or bass. It’s all there on the keypad with the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic.

The phone isn’t too bulky – only 12 mm thin, so it is perfect to carry in my back pocket. Great for commutes and the gym too. The official page is also connected online to a Nokia music store so I can buy singles or albums through my phone – it’s instantaneous – sometimes I feel like listening to a particular song and I don’t have it. I could be on a bus or the sky train or in a cab – and suddenly I’ll have the urge to listen to an old Michael Jackson song. I just connect myself to the store and within minutes, I’ll be moon-walking (or trying to) down the street to ‘Billie Jean.’ A really great buy for music lovers – the quality of sound is unmatched by any other phone in the same price range, and some more expensive. I would recommend this phone to you twice around. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Nokia
when it finally comes out.

New Nokia E75 Hi Res images

March 16th, 2009

Courtesy of our friends over at Symbian world, we are able to bring you some hi res images of the all new Nokia E75.

This is just one of the images that we borrowed (cheers guys). To see the rest, check out their post here. The slide out Qwerty kyboard is becoming quite a feature on Nokia mobile phones, with the Nokia E55 and the Nokia N97 all having slide out QWERTY keyboards of some nature. It certainly suits the business users, who are looking to send longer emails, rather than just text messages. We will let you know about release dates for the E75 as soon as we know more!

Nokia N86 8MP an individual performer

March 6th, 2009

The new Nokia N86 8mp is a step forward from the current Nokia N85. The main difference here is the camera, with the new Nokia N86 coming complete with an 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and carl Zeiss optics.
Judging by its looks, it is almost identical to the N85, however the specs have been upgraded to suit the updated technology that is now available. One particular feature that is worth noting is the new Ovi service that allows you to share photo’s with your friends. You can read more about this on the official page. The Nokia N86 also comes with Geo Tagging and GPS navigation, a standard on all N-series phones nowadays. The big difference here from the previous N85 is most certainly the camera. It doesn’t have quite as much to offer as the Nokia N97 that we talked about a while ago, but as a mid range mobile phone it should do the trick.
The Nokia N86 comes with a 2 way slide mechanism, that allows for dedicated gaming and camera keys. This is a similar design feature that can be found on many of the N-series phones. Nokia have also thrown in Nokia maps meaning you will never get lost again (assuming that you can get reception).
Other improvements on the Nokia N86 are an OLED display that is scratch resistant using hardened glass. This is something that I personally really appreciate. I found that my old N96 got scratched pretty easily. Overall if you are looking at new mobile phone deals at the moment, then the N86 is a great middle of the range N-series handset. The Nokia 5320, A Closer Look

March 3rd, 2009

The relatively new Nokia 5320 is a great new phone which offers a nice set of features and was released in July of this year (2008). The phone is equipped with a good set of features and is definitely a personal mobile phone. There is a 2 mega pixel camera, a great media player and a 3.5 mm headphone jack so you can use your own headphones to listen to your music. I’ve also seen a Nokia 5320 review which seems to suggest that this phone is as good as it sounds and that the features and applications appear to work well together. I agree and I think this phone is going to be very popular for a long time.
I’ve also seen a lot of Nokia 5320 deals available and I think as we get closer to Christmas we’re likely to see a lot of pay as you go mobile phones on deals and offers everywhere. I’ve also seen that the Nokia 5320 on contract is available for free on most networks and that is great and all this should mean you will be able to get yourself a great deal on the Nokia 5320 or any other mobile phone for that matter. All in all, the Nokia 5320 is a great phone and I’d highly recommend it to personal users who enjoy music and entertainment features.
Overall, the Nokia 5320 is a great phone and it has a nice look to it which will make it all the more popular. The phone has a good set of features and is ideal for personal users who enjoy entertainment features. I’ve also seen a Nokia 5320 video which is well worth watching if you’re interested in this phone as it’ll show you the phone in action and allow you to see the phone’s features in a lot more detail than I can describe here. All in all, the Nokia 5320 is a great phone and well worth the purchase in my opinion.
