The Nokia E7 Is Power Packed And Comes With A Keyboard

November 1st, 2010

Nokia has just finished putting out their latest products and they are very high quality. The Nokia E7 has the same great looks as the N8 but also includes a keyboard. Take a closer look at this smartphone here in this quick article.

The Nokia E7 is sleek and svelte. It is shaped in a unique but pocket-friendly style. The edges are rounded to not only get it into a pocket but out again without much effort. The display on the E7 is created with bright and energy-saving AMOLED technology. This saves money by creating a longer time between battery charges. It is also packed to the gills with features. The special Clearblack treatment is present under the scratch-restant glass. This crystallizes the view for the user. The E7 display is fully equipped with user features including handwriting recognition. The size is four inches.

Besides having one of the brightest and clearest displays in its class, the Nokia E7 is easy to type on. The manual keyboard slides out from under the display and props the screen up at an angle. This makes it easier to see while typing.

On the back is an eight megapixel camera that features dual LED flash. The level of quality is good enough on the camera to support taking high definition video shots. The format for the videos is 720p at 25 frames per second. That is not the highest in the mobile world, but not far from it. On the front of the E7 is a second camera for video calling.

The Symbian^3 mobile operating system is running the Nokia E7. This is a world-famous open-source software that also powers the C7 and flagship Nokia N8. It comes with Ovi Maps for free, pinch to zoom, swipe scrolling, HDMI output, multi tasking, and a host of other features. Look for this smartphone to sell for €495 euros.

Nokia E52. Business and beyond

July 6th, 2009

As with all of the E-Series of Nokia phones, the E52 is primarily a business phone. While not sporting the QWERTY-keyboard of many of the best known business phones, the E52 has a number of innovations amongst its many other features that make it a very viable option for business users. Chief amongst these are:

  • Mobile VPN (mobile virtual private network) – allows continuous access to network resources and information available on company intranets.
  • Call Connect support – lets you hook your E52 up to your work phone system, so you can be contactable through just one number and have one voicemail box
  • Ovi files – access through your phone to all the documents, photos and other files that are stored on your main computer’s hard drive (although there’s only a 60-day trial for this piece of magic)
  • Battery life – a whoppingly hugely massive 25 days standby, meaning if you’re travelling from one meeting to the next country to the next boardroom, you won’t need to pack your charger

And it’s this last point that makes us realise that not only business users could get a lot out of the Nokia E52. After all, who doesn’t want an amazing battery life? And with this thing weighing in at an astonishing less-than-100 grams, with its impressively featured camera and video recording, it’s digital compass, A-GPS and all the other smartphone shenanigans you’ve come to expect, maybe it’s not just the suited and booted who will appreciate this. There’s a Nokia E52 review here for a full specs and features rundown, or check out this truly, utterly awful video made by non other than Nokia themselves. When oh when will they learn that this is what they pay marketing agencies to do for them…

Nokia E72. Apple iPhone take note

June 19th, 2009

We’d never be ones to bash Apple as a company. They’ve brought more innovations, style and all round pleasure to the mobile phone market that they should be revered for the tech-gods they are. But we do find it interesting to be able to compare two “upgrades” in the space of a week. The first, below, Apple iPhone 3G S, we found just about able to be claimed as “new”, and again, just about worthy of your money over the previous iteration of the phone. The Nokia E72 is something entirely different. Nokia haven’t just tweaked and slightly streamlined this handset, they’ve overhauled it. Just take a look at this list if you don’t believe us:

  • New optical navigation key for intuitive scrolling and fast panning
  • Desktop like email experience (successful feature imported from the E75)
  • Compass and A-GPS (including integrated Maps)
  • Active noise cancellation helping improve general call quality
  • Camera upgraded to 5 megapixels
  • Symbian S60 system running faster thanks to performance tweaks
  • 3.5 mm audio jack and FM radio included
  • New IM features – connect to your current IM accounts (Yahoo, Google, Ovi, etc.)
  • Lifetime license for Nokia’s mobile email and IM services
  • Onboard Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler (allowing you to access all your email accounts)
  • Spacebar key-activated torch function
  • New version of Quickoffice – Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility
  • 128 grams, 10mm thick
  • 480 standby hours. 12 hrs 2G talk time, 6 hours for 3G
  • Access to the brand-new Ovi Store for apps and other media / entertainment

All hail the new Nokia E72 then. There sure as hell wasn’t a list like that when it came to the iPhone 3G S. Nokia have taken the bar, climbed a really tall building, built some scaffolding even higher, then got on a ladder, then put the bar on top of that ladder. Take note, Apple and everyone else. This is how you improve something. And the fact that the E71 was already Nokia’s best ever selling QWERTY-keyboard phone goes some way to showing how much we should all be appreciating the effort they’ve made with this Nokia E72. Nokia E75 review. Two In One

June 12th, 2009

The Nokia E75 was showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Needless to say, it was held in awe by the people who got the opportunity to see it and handle it.
The E75 is the company’s first phone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and its first enterprise device with a full keyboard that is not part of the “Communicator” series. Perhaps the best feature of this phone is the fact that it really functions as two phones in one. The E75 is capable of switching between two different screens. This means you can use one screen for work hours, where you can keep all your shortcuts for business applications. And, you can use the other screen for leisure times, where you can keep shortcuts for personal functions. This duality allows a person to have the facility of two separate phones in a single phone.
Supported by the S60 platform, which is enhanced for business applications, the See more info here is capable of fully syncing contacts, email, home screen, and calendar on your mobile phone. It is also pre-installed with the Nokia Messaging service, Mail for Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes traveller, POP/IMAP support, and support for a variety of 3rd party email providers. Additionally, the phone has HSDPA, WLAN, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity; and a 3.5mm audiovisual jack, which can be used to output presentations, video, audio, as well as to work as a stereo headset. This makes it such a handy phone for people who want to conduct business on the move.
But, apart from that, the Nokia has a music player, media player, FM radio, a 3.2 megapixel camera, making it a great phone for personal use. It comes in silver black, red, and copper yellow shades which help make the phone look extremely stylish and sleek.

Nokia E55 Review

March 27th, 2009

I just saw the Nokia E55
online and it looks like a really good option for people who spend a lot of time messaging or emailing from their phones. The E55 supports EGPRS, WCDMA, HSDPA/HSUPA (3.5G) and WLAN impressive connectivity for a phone so small. It is a mere 116.5 x 49 x 9.9 mm, pretty sleek looking in its steel grey color.

The Nokia E55 has a compact QWERTY keyboard that makes it easier to type out long messages and emails. It also has a predictive engine that completes words for you, and that automatically includes new words. The screen can also be switched to landscape mode to make emailing easier.

The official product page is fully compatible with Ovi services, which means that as a user you can access Ovi Maps and GPS services. The phone also has N-Gage installed, for a little bit of extra fun! The phone supports a wide range of document formats – Excel, PDF, Powerpoint, Word, so you can use the attachment function for emails and also view and change documents right on your phone.

If you prefer to just make a phone call rather than use the messaging convenience, then you won’t be disappointed with the pay as you go
phone. I features a new noise cancellation technology that cuts out ambient sounds to make your conversation clearer and sharper. A great feature for cellphones, especially if you’re already pushing the limits of your network area.

The 2048 x 1536 camera has a 4 times digital zoom, auto exposure, extended depth of field, fullscreen viewfinder, red-eye reduction, self timer, and sequence mode. Quite a package for a phone that is primarily being marketed as a messaging phone. The Nokia E55 can also play over 10 audio formats, including WAV and M4A formats. It has dedicated camera keys and dedicated volume keys as well.

I would recommend the phone simply because it is made my Nokia, and they make the best phones in the industry. Take a look at the features for yourself, and if you can find a more capable phone, that looks as great and is so simple to navigate, then let me know.

March 16th, 2009

Courtesy of our friends over at Symbian world, we are able to bring you some hi res images of the all new Nokia E75.

This is just one of the images that we borrowed (cheers guys). To see the rest, check out their post here. The slide out Qwerty kyboard is becoming quite a feature on Nokia mobile phones, with the Nokia E55 and the Nokia N97 all having slide out QWERTY keyboards of some nature. It certainly suits the business users, who are looking to send longer emails, rather than just text messages. We will let you know about release dates for the E75 as soon as we know more!
