Nokia 3720 Classic- a rocky phone

September 2nd, 2009

nokia-3720-1At the moment, though Nokia is considered to have dominating share in the cell phone market, but it no ways suggest that other manufacturers of the mobile phone are idle and resting at the moment. Indeed, with the release of iPhone, the market of Nokia has been declining rapidly and the handsets from HTC as well as Palm Pre are gradually catching up. Then the control Nokia has over the entry as well as mid-level handsets around the globe cannot be ignored and with 3720 Classic Nokia steps in the arena of rugged phones once again. The handset was especially fabricated to defend against the water, shock as well as dust all through its lifetime.

The Nokia 3720 Classic has an influence of the series of rugged phone introduced by them in the earlier period, when the handset was enclosed in hard-wearing material. Apart from that, the handset is embalmed to ensure that internal electronics are completely free from problems of moisture or dust problems. The battery back up is commendable of Nokia 3720 Classic. The phones of Nokia are extremely consistent through out the year and your heart will definitely not skip a beat when it drops on the ground.

With every purchase the customers comes with an outstanding battery performance, that enables you to talk on and on at a stretch. Having 2.2 inches TFT screen having a display of up to 16 million colors along with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. Besides, the Nokia 3720 Classic supports a 2 megapixel camera with LED flash light. An immensely functional mobile sports great feature, having one can be truly a thrilling experience for the users.

Nokia 3720 classic. iPod killer?

August 14th, 2009

Nokia have always built solid, durable phones with decent battery lives. In fact, we know people who are still using Nokia’s with LCD screens from about seven years ago that are still going strong. Not so with so many other manufacturers of course, especially in these days of new 18-24 month contracts. Because a disturbing trend happened in the days of 12 month contracts in which phones started to get built just for the length of that contract and no more. So that if you waited, say, 14 months, you’d suddenly find that your battery was barely lasting a day, your screen looked like it wanted to go into retirement and the whole casing started to feel just a little bit like it was going to fall apart in your hands. And don’t get us started on how mayfly-like iPods are…

Which is why it just plain makes sense that it’s Nokia who are bringing one of the world’s most rugged phones to the market. The Nokia 3720 Classic is, in fact, just about the strongest mass market phone we’ve ever seen. And as much as we’d like to explain it to you, there really is no better demonstration than the video below. Obviously the Nokia bods employed here are being just a little bit tender with it (because come on, who hits that softly with a golf club?!) but even with that slight reserve you can see how the Nokia 3720 is one strong little puppy.

So, if you work on a construction site or other dusty / dangerous environment, or if you just happen to find yourself always wanting to make calls in the middle of your morning swim, then this little thing could be just what you’ve been looking for. You can click here for the official page, or just have a look at this Nokia 3720 review for a full rundown on all the specs and stats.

Nokia 6730 Classic. Fuzzy cuddly smallness

July 6th, 2009

Hitting the shelves any day now is the Vodafone-exclusive 6730 Classic. There’s little to write home about here, but then that’s part of this things appeal – there’s so little here that this poor little chicken weighs a paltry (get it? get it?) 83 grams – just about the lightest 3G phone you can get your beaks into anywhere in the world.

So what do you get for your 83 grams with the 6730 Classic then? Well, not a lot, but not a little either. The camera’s a more than useless 3.2 megapizel with autofocus job. It comes with a not-too-shoddy 1GB of internal memory, that can as always be beefed up with microSD cards, meaning the competent music player can be taken full advantage of. There’s a lifetime membership to something called Ovi maps that gives you a nifty turn-by-turn global pedestrian navigation system to go with the A-GPS-driven maps functionality. There’s the usual raft of Symbian S60 apps onboard, and you can also download a huge number of other add-ons to your heart’s content. And, being Nokia, there’s the fuzzy warm feeling you’ll get from knowing that all the packaging is recycled and that there’s more power-saving and planet-cuddling features included than you can shake an organic, free-range stick at.

So the 6730 Classic’s not going to set the world alight with it’s high-end functionality (that would, after all, release carbon dixoide into the atmosphere…) but it is going to make people who want decent enough functionality in the smallest possible package feel quite satisfied indeed. Check out this more detailed Nokia 6730 review here, or there’s a basic video below:

Nokia 6121 Classic. Well… just, well…

June 26th, 2009

The 6121 Classic is a Symbian OS smartphone (not to be confused with Nokia 6120, an obsolete mobile phone by Nokia).

It is the first Nokia UMTS / HSDPA dual band mobile which also features quad band GSM.

And… well… that’s about your lot. Check out the 6121 Classic’s specs here is you don’t believe us:

  • Surf the web and download music and videos quickly over the high speed 3G or HSDPA* connection (3.6 mbps)
  • Built on S60 3rd edition
  • Email with attachments
  • QVGA front camera for video calls
  • 2 megapixel camera with flash and panorama imaging
  • Video recorder
  • Share more of your life by making video calls
  • Store music, videos, and pictures
  • USB 2.0
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • MicroSD memory card support
  • Get organized with the practical calendar and convenient PC synchronization
  • Relax and unwind as you listen to your favorite tunes on the music player
  • Sophisticated, classic design with chromed highlights
  • 105 x 46 x 15 mm
  • 89 g
  • 240 x 320 pixels, 2.0 inches – TFT, 16M colors

So the HDSPA is 3.6mbs, not 7.2. The camera is only 2MP. And nothing else there is anything but average, to tell the truth. But then this a big new launch, it’s only a dinky (and light) candybay phone, and, well, you’ll know if you want it. The 6121 Classic is for those who want a little bit of everything done quite well, rather than a lot of things done exceptionally well. Read a Nokia 6121 classic review here.

Nokia N86 8MP an individual performer

March 6th, 2009

The new Nokia N86 8mp is a step forward from the current Nokia N85. The main difference here is the camera, with the new Nokia N86 coming complete with an 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and carl Zeiss optics.
Judging by its looks, it is almost identical to the N85, however the specs have been upgraded to suit the updated technology that is now available. One particular feature that is worth noting is the new Ovi service that allows you to share photo’s with your friends. You can read more about this on the official page. The Nokia N86 also comes with Geo Tagging and GPS navigation, a standard on all N-series phones nowadays. The big difference here from the previous N85 is most certainly the camera. It doesn’t have quite as much to offer as the Nokia N97 that we talked about a while ago, but as a mid range mobile phone it should do the trick.
The Nokia N86 comes with a 2 way slide mechanism, that allows for dedicated gaming and camera keys. This is a similar design feature that can be found on many of the N-series phones. Nokia have also thrown in Nokia maps meaning you will never get lost again (assuming that you can get reception).
Other improvements on the Nokia N86 are an OLED display that is scratch resistant using hardened glass. This is something that I personally really appreciate. I found that my old N96 got scratched pretty easily. Overall if you are looking at new mobile phone deals at the moment, then the N86 is a great middle of the range N-series handset. A great new phone for personal users – The Nokia 6212 Classic

January 6th, 2009

The yet to be released Nokia 6212 is a great new personal phone from Nokia which has a large set of features that are ideal for basic personal users. The phone is equipped with a 2 mega pixel camera, high speed internet, a media player, Near Field Communication and Visual Radio. I’ve also seen a recent Nokia 6212 review which seemed to suggest that this phone is as good as it looks on paper in reality and that it’ll probably be very popular in terms of sales, both this year and next. I agree, I think this phone is great and it’s got a good look to it as well.
I’ve also seen a lot of Nokia 6212 deals available and I think that as we get nearer to Christmas there will be a lot of mobile phone contract deals available everywhere. I’ve also seen that the Nokia 6212 on contract will be available for free on most networks so that could be a very popular option for consumers. All in all, the Nokia 6212 Classic is a great looking phone with a great set of features and it’ll definitely be a popular phone after it’s released.
Overall, the Nokia 6212 Classic is a really good phone and although it isn’t available yet, on paper it appears to have everything a personal user would need. I’d recommend this phone to basic personal users because although the feature list is large I wouldn’t say it has the highest quality features. I’ve also seen a Nokia 6212 video which is definitely worth watching if you’re interested in this phone because it’ll give you a clearer idea of what the phone has to offer and you’ll also be able to see the phone in action before you buy it which is something I recommend regardless of what phone you’re looking for.
