Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition. Shandy

September 10th, 2009

In a Twilight Zone kind of away, we really, really understand what Nokia are doing with the Nokia 5800 Navigation edition, whilst at the very same time, being really, really confused by it. Let us (un)explain ourselves

Understandable – The 5800 has a nice big screen, is very touch friendly and comes with lots of onboard connectivity such as WiFi and GPS, all of which means that if you gave it lots of top-end mapping and navigational software, it would be as good as any standalone GPS navigator. Nokia have, therefore, done all this, and the Nokia 5800 Navigator edition is, well, as good as any standalone GPS navigator

Confusable – The 5800 XpressMusic came out about 4 minutes ago, and we’re really not sure if releasing the Nokia 5800 Navigation edition so soon is a good idea. And what about the music side of things? Is that still as good? Because they’re not talking about it in the press releases? Does it still even play music?

Yes, fair enough, we could go look at the official page or at this Nokjia 5800 navigation review to ascertain that, yes, it does do all the things the XpressMusic version did, but now it also has a lifetime license for the turn-by-turn and voice navigation functions that you’d otherwise have to spend money on. But… it’s… you know? You don’t?

Hmm.

It’s just confusing, alright! Maybe that lunchtime “shandy” was a bad idea after all… We’re just going to sit back and watch this nice video instead…

5 of the hottest Nokia mobile phones right now

February 6th, 2009

We have spent a bit of time looking at the various Nokia Handsets that are available at the moment and have compiled a quick list of the 5 best Nokia mobile phones that are currently available, or that are soon to be released by the Mobile phone giant. We have tried to present a range of handsets, from budget handsets, to the top of the range, all singing all dancing Nokia phones. Do let us know if you think there should be other models included here.
1) The Nokia N97. Ok it isn’t out just yet, but when it finally released in Q2 of this year, you can expect it to go down a storm. It uses the latest Symbian OS and promises to offer a much smoother experience for the user. This will also be Nokia’s 2nd foray into the touch screen market… watch out Iphone
2) The Nokia 5800. We might be a little touch screen crazy here at Nokia Blogged, but we love the 5800. It is also cheaper than the Nokia N97, so you do get a lot for your money here. The other great thing about the Nokia 5800 is that it comes with Nokia’s new “comes with music” service, allowing unlimited downloads of your favourite tracks. An excellent mid range proposition in our opinion.
3) The Nokia 6208 Classic is set to replace the older, slightly slimmer 6500 Classic. It promises to be a big seller on pay as you go as it offers great features for a very good price.
4) The Nokia 6260 Slide is a great little phone for those of you who like your slider phones. It comes with 3G and GPS so you can be sure to never get lost again. A fantastic little handset with decent price tag.
5) The Nokia 6300 – Yes it’s an old timer now, but this phone is fantastically reliable and has an excellent battery life. You can also get this handset with some great free gifts if you shop around.
That concludes our top 5 list of the best Nokia mobile phones out there at the moment. If you are thinking of getting a new mobile phone any time soon, be sure to check these little babies out.
